About the New EPA Regulations for Lead Removal
The EPA has made changes to the “Lead & Copper Rule”.
What are the new changes?
The EPA has made changes to the “Lead and Copper Rule” that require water in schools and child care centers to have lead levels below 10 parts per billion (ppb). To be compliant with these new regulations, schools must test their water for lead levels and develop plans for lead mitigation.
New lead removal requirements start October 16, 2024. These changes require immediate attention!
How does this effect you?
Any water fountains, sinks in classrooms and food preparation areas must be tested and filtering systems installed to get lead levels below EPA requirements. In addition to lead and copper, there are other known contaminants in water that are harmful for consumption. Notturno can help you meet these requirements, improve your water quality and keep your students and staff safe.
This means by October 16, 2024 your school will need to:
1
Have your water tested for lead and harmful chemicals.
Contaminants include:
2
Install filtration systems where students & staff access water.
Including:
No amount of lead in your water is safe.
With Notturno, have confidence with lead free water.
We know that no amount of lead in your water is safe. That is why Notturno is committed to getting your lead levels to 0 ppb (parts per billion).
New EPA Threshold Level
EPA’s new threshold of 10 ppb requires schools and child care centers to jump start lead testing and mitigation.
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommendation
AAP recommends that lead levels in school drinking water should not exceed 1 ppb.
